Final six images

Endangered Species

Whiles doing my research for this project I came across the Guardian website, 'In picture the Noughties - a decade of lost species. I decided to look into the theme Environmental which led me to the Red list of threatened species website. The site itself has a lot of useful information regarding all kinds of animal species. This is where my research really started to have an outcome; I looked into animals that became critically endangered,Extinct in the wild and extinct all in the Noughties.

Extinct in the wild = EW = Triangle
Extinct = EX = Circle
Critically endangered = CR = Square
I came up with my own sign for each categories of animals with mathematics shapes.

, maybe already extinct. Down: Hawaiian Crow, EW, 53 left in captive. Top right: Pachnodus velutinus (snail), EX in 2000. Down: Golden toad, EX, Regionally extinct in Costa Rica. Oryx dammah, EX year accessed 2008, 370 left in captive in Tunisia, Senegal and Morocco.

More Development drawing of the Golden toad, Oryx dammah and Spix’s macaw with different drawing techniques.

First initials ideas of how to represent the animals. Top left is of the Spix’s macaw with a tag that reads: extinct: £00.00. (With more research I found that their critically endangered, not extinct.) Top right is the idea that I develop on towards the final pieces.
