Khon Dance

These new series of work was created because I wanted to explore more into Thai culture, particularly the beautiful traditional Thai dancing called ‘Khon’ that narrate the epic story of ‘Ramakien’ from Thai literature. This kind of dance consist of elegant hand and body movement and the dancer wears brightly colourful elaborate headdress, masks and costumes which I have attempted to capture in these series of illustrations.

D&AD Little White Lies entry

This was my unsuccessful D&AD entry for the Little White Lies magazine. Even though I didn't get though this brief was great fun and a nice little distraction from my EMP. It was also a good excuse to watch the top 5 film in aid of research.

Grimm's Fairy Tales

Final design that I submitted for the Penguin design award 2012 for Puffin’s ‘Grimm’s Fairy Tales’ by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. I was very happy with the final outcome although I didn’t get shortlisted. I experimented with hand rendered typography combining it with my illustration and using dark purple for the dark stormy night sky that often depicts the mood of some of the stories in the book.

Grimm's Fairy Tales

I have decided to enter the Penguin Design Award 2012 as part of my previous uni project. The Brief that I took on was for the Puffin Children's book for 'Grimm's Fairy Tales' by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm ; students are invited to design a whole new cover look for this classic. Although this was the first time I have actually read this book from front to back, there was certains themes and story that I recognise weather it was from disney's adaptations or tales being told to me whiles growing up. These Illustrations and colour test that I created were just some experiments on ideas that I gather from reading the book.
